A solar system with no moving parts still needs attention. Skipping maintenance rarely causes a dramatic failure — it just quietly erodes output until you notice your generator running more than it should.
Look for obvious dust build-up, bird droppings, or debris on the panels, and check that inverter display readings look normal. This takes five minutes and catches the easy problems early.
Dust and harmattan haze cut output more than most people expect — sometimes by 15% or more on panels that have not been cleaned in a while. A simple wash with water and a soft brush, done in the cool of early morning, restores most of that loss.
Loose connections and corroded terminals are one of the most common causes of underperformance and, in worse cases, fire risk. A technician should also check battery water levels (for tubular) and overall battery health at this interval.
Once a year, a proper inspection should cover mounting hardware (especially after heavy rains), inverter firmware and settings, cable insulation, and an overall performance comparison against your system's expected output.
